Hi everyone,
I need some help please. I went to a yard sale here in Augusta, Georgia (visiting) and i came across this old leather box and there was a ring inside (take a look at the pictures) inside the ring there is a date: 15-11-1828 and inside the box: A.O.FAULKNE JEWELLER & o 167.RECENT.ST (i can't see the last letter

) Does anyone have an idea of it's origins etc.... Please help.
Thank you.

The name in the box is from the jeweler who provided it. The address is on Regent street, probably in London. Chances are good that the jewelry store is long gone but it might be fun to see if you can track down some more information about them. I’ld start with Google. I wouldn’t count on the box and the ring being related by the way. In 180 years that ring has probably been through at least a half a dozen owners and any one of them could put it in a different box.
The date is almost certainly a wedding date of November 15, 1828 although it may have been given to commemorate some other event, perhaps a birth. There’s not anything in the way of clues to indicate who the couple was but the style supports that period. I see a few markings to the right of the engraving that might be helpful if you can read them.
Did you post this in the 'jewelry classified' section because you're trying to sell it?
